Melissa indicum is the cheaper alternative to genuine lemon balm oil (Melissa officinalis oil). Melissa indicum oil is made by distilling citronella oil over lemon balm leaves. Of course, this oil differs in its properties compared to real lemon balm. It is just as strong a disinfectant, but is used more in aroma care, cosmetics and room scenting.
