We have been cultivating organic flowers and herbs on our Felslindenhof for many years.

We put our own tailor-made steam distillery into operation in 2014. This enables us to process the freshly harvested plants immediately and thus produce organically certified hydrosols of the highest quality ourselves.

Hydrolates, formerly also known as plant waters, floral waters or aromatic waters, are a valuable by-product of steam distillation. They are created as condensate when the steam cools and are mixed with the water-soluble components of the plant, while the oil contains the fat-soluble, easily volatile ingredients. Since the effect of hydrolates is milder, they can be safely applied directly to the skin.

These waters, so highly valued by our grandparents’ generation, are currently experiencing a true renaissance.

Catnip, known for its calming effect on cats, also has a firm place in human medicine. Originally from Europe and Asia, catnip is valued for its mild, relaxing properties. Catnip hydrolate is a gentle, yet effective aid in skin care and aromatherapy. It is particularly popular for its calming and balancing effect on the body and mind.

Application

Catnip hydrosol is often used in skin care to soothe sensitive or irritated skin. It is suitable as a facial toner for dry and itchy skin conditions and can be used to relieve minor skin irritations or insect bites. Due to its cooling and refreshing properties, it is also popular in body sprays and compresses. In aromatherapy, it is used to reduce stress, calm the mind and relieve sleep disorders. Catnip hydrosol is also a good choice as a mild room fragrance to create a relaxed and balanced atmosphere.

Caution

Catnip hydrosol is generally very mild, but should still be used with caution in cases of known hypersensitivity to plants of the Lamiaceae family.
