The grapefruit belongs to the rue family. It is believed that the grapefruit is a natural hybrid of the grapefruit and the orange.
Grapefruit essential oil has astringent and antipyretic properties. It has a positive effect on the release of endorphins and therefore derives its attribution as a mood-enhancing and pain-relieving oil.
Other uses range from skin tightening, varicose veins and to the treatment of acne and skin imperfections. It is valued in the scenting of cosmetics and room fragrances.
