The frankincense tree belongs to the Balsamaceae family. The tree, which is up to 8 meters high, grows in the dry areas of India, Africa and Arabia. By cutting trunks or branches, a sticky, milky liquid is obtained, which becomes frankincense resin when it dries in the air. The frankincense oil is extracted from the resin by steam distillation.
Frankincense oil is a very valuable oil that is calming and peaceful. It frees the psyche and drives away negative thoughts. Its scent is mild, spicy, warm and very aromatic, it has a mood-enhancing effect and is good for meditation. Its anti-inflammatory properties are often used in rheumatic diseases, while inhalations can alleviate symptoms of respiratory diseases. In skin care, frankincense oil is used especially for aging skin, but wound processes and scarring can also be positively influenced.
